Decisions – The small ones

We make small decisions every day.

Which sock do I put on today? What would I like to drink? Which milk do I buy in the supermarket? Do I cut my hair?

These are smaller decisions with seemingly smaller impact on our lives.
It is not like we normally fear to fail in life just because we decide to wear green socks on Monday. Why not? Well, we may think it doesn’t really matter. That it doesn´t really mean anything, and also, that we can choose the green socks today, because it doesn’t mean we have to keep to it for the next twenty years and wear exclusively green socks. Tomorrow we can put on the red ones. And after tomorrow we can even go out without wearing any at all. Knowing that, gives us a very fresh sense of flexibility. We don’t feel obliged to follow small decisions as we feel the obligation to follow and eventually suffer the big ones. But truly all that is quite a bit of bullshit. In terms of changes or events we can’t really know what matters in life and what doesn’t.

Decisions - The Big Ones

So…. If there is Free Will, there is also freedom of choice. We can make decisions! Yei!
Of course we are aware of the fact, that our decisions will have an impact on our life and those around us. So as a consequence we have a slight tendency to be fatalistic about our decisions and think of them as “The Big Decisions”.

Free will? What free will??

Okay, I get that a lot, so let´s talk about it a bit.
What is free will, and what it is not?
It is not “I do whatever I want to - whenever I want to do” for several reasons:
First, because not only *I* have my free will but also You do. And I am to respect that. I shall not take it from You or influence it in order to get what I want. (Although many times it seems to be the case, but that doesn’t change the fact it shouldn’t be done – but this being a rather complex topic, I prefer to talk about it later, separately.) So what I want, is maybe not what youwant, and our interests crash, so one has to give in- or up; or we both have to alter our plans, or one kills the other… Either way such a free will (if it existed) would be damaged.

Divine Generousity

God wants us to be happy, but in His infinite generousity he also allows us to be miserable if we choose so. :)

Images – Get the picture?

pic.jpg

We live in a world of images. They are our most relevant context. We think in terms of images, we works with models, we tend to set everything into a visual dimension so we can imagine them. The unimaginable – is nonexistent. Everything that exists has to be imaginable to us. It may sound too obvious maybe but in fact it is a complex system and a very important part of creation. We use images as concepts of our life.

We have an image of God, one of ourselves, images of other people around us, an image of the political “landscape” and also science works with models in order to understand things better. We make images of words by writing them down; we draw or paint to express our thoughts and feelings.

Heavy, please!

yellow_raspberry2.jpg

Today in the supermarket I witnessed the following scene:

A man holding a bottle of strawberry marmalade in his hand showing it to his wife:
-Oh Darling, see? This looks delicious!
-My dear, you know you can’t have that - she replied
-But baby it really looks so good!
-Yes but it has too much sugar in it, put it back.

And he did put it back.

Btw, in case he reads this: I took it and had some for dinner, it was indeed delicious! Continue reading ‘Heavy, please!’

Structure

grail2.jpg

As I am preparing this site I am forced to structure my thoughts and the different concepts in my head. I am generally a rather chaotic person and don’t have much structure in my life because in my mind I often connect structure with being bound and restricted and that doesn’t agree with my nature. As a result I usually have quite a bit of chaos around me.

Entering winter/summer in south/north hemisphere.

Sometimes opposites are seen as static forces, for example, the idea of good against evil. However, they exist for each other; they define each other and that way they are able to exist also for themselves. What is needed is to pick up on the slight movement it does in order to change into its opposite, for there is nothing static in life; not even what we called The Essence, as it is better recognized as a permanent movement; a permanent variation that keeps balance. This is the idea of Tao, the Infinity, but it’s not only an abstract concept. It is there acting in everyday life wether is perceived or not. In general, we are not able to perceive “dark matter/energy” for itself, that is to say, the fact we are vast beings; an expanded consciousness towards life. What can be perceived is what it’s given in reality, what we can observe from our daily-practice and this everlasting movement is part of it. Buenos Aires submerged in Smoke

First of all, i would like to welcome you to this Category that is called Earth. Here, we will post “earthly matters”, such us new climate phenomena.

Today i will write about Smoke in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, placed in South America (for those who do not know where it is).

A week ago, Buenos aires was submerged in smoke that started with rural fires. Farmers routinely use fires to clear land for new plantings and to remove scrub, but this time it burned out of control. It is in fact, the first time that such phenomena takes place. The air was unbreathable, throats and eyes got irritated and weather did not help. The urban landspace was covered into a great veil of smoke causing some traffic accident taking the life of a few. It was said by authorities that smoke was not toxic, but for those who made it through this chaos, it seemed like it as it is dangerous for health and air-pollution. In addition, many people declared having headaches and nose bleeding.
