Central Station: RESPONSIBILITY

This ride may get a bit rough so, hold on.
One of the main reasons why we adopt external value systems is that if we do so, we stop being responsible for the things that happen to us. In other words: we can blame the system. It seems that blaming others leaves us impeccable and innocent. It is indeed a comfort zone we create in order to hide from reality. Clearly it’s the easier way, but certainly it isn’t a very rewarding one, if you take a closer look. Basically it’s a trap of eternal childhood in that we depend on others to tell us what’s right or wrong, what shall we do or not do, how we are supposed to feel or behave. It is a safe place, yes. That it doesn´t really mean anything, and also, that we can choose the green socks today, because it doesn’t mean we have to keep to it for the next twenty years and wear exclusively green socks. Tomorrow we can put on the red ones. And after tomorrow we can even go out without wearing any at all. Knowing that, gives us a very fresh sense of flexibility. We don’t feel obliged to follow small decisions as we feel the obligation to follow and eventually suffer the big ones. But truly all that is quite a bit of bullshit. In terms of changes or events we can’t really know what matters in life and what doesn’t.

Of course we are aware of the fact, that our decisions will have an impact on our life and those around us. So as a consequence we have a slight tendency to be fatalistic about our decisions and think of them as “The Big Decisions”.
